  • We believe in deliberate and bold ideas and actions
  • We accelerate growth through innovative investments
  • We are action oriented and impact driven

WAR Initiative (Women at Risk Initiative) - What is it?

The WAR Initiative is a programme that focuses on helping women at risk hone their gifts and talents, and empower them to have success in the meaningful areas of their lives. WAR was birthed as a legacy project of the Woman Ignite Success Summit (WISS) and is the pilot project of the Woman Ignite Foundation. For the first year, the Initiative will support a total of 18 women across Jamaica.

How will it work?

The programme will provide specialized support for a cohort of women, who are deemed most at risk. Support will come in the form of:

  • Counselling, prayer, and inner healing
  • Business Development
  • Internships and Work Experience
  • Life and Success Coaching
  • Funding/Stipend for bare necessities
  • Refuge/Temporary Shelter (where needed)
  • Mentorship and Guidance for the workplace

When will it begin?

The WAR programme officially launched on July 8, 2022, and so far six (6) women have received computer training. The full programme is currently being fine-tuned and the various partner contributions are being secured to support the special group of women during the pilot phase.

WAR Initiative High Level Overview

The WAR initiative will take a two-pronged approach to supporting and mentoring the cohort:

  1. Developing and executing an empowerment programme that all the women will be onboarded. All beneficiaries will be required to participate, and will address and develop personal, academic and work life skills.
  2. Individualized support will also be offered for the specific and unique needs of each participant. This includes furthering education, career training, internships and scholarship grants.

Empowerment Programme

Based on the 18 WAR participants approved for the first cohort, the main programme will address the following areas; the needs may differ for each instalment and will be reviewed based on the Needs Assessment conducted each year:

  1. Mental and Emotional Health
    • Coaching around shifting mindsets, self-image/worth, life and success
    • Psychological health (seek to look after mental and emotional needs)
    • Spiritual health, counseling and inner healing/deliverance ministry
  2. Life and Success Coaching
    • Filling in educational gaps in fundamental competencies (such as reading,
writing, grammar, spelling, arithmetic, computer literacy)
    • Workplace/employability skills training and guidance

Empowerment Programme

Phase 1: Personal Empowerment and Success
Phase 2: Workforce Training
Phase 3: Social Engagement skills
Phase 4: Application & Delivery (Internship/work experience)
Phase 5: Close-Out Ceremony; at the end of a 12-months period, beneficiaries will graduate from the programme and allow a new cohort to be installed. A final progress report will be issued for each participant.
